@GottaLaff My at-home test just came up negative but I've had all the symptoms last few days: headache, congestion, brain fog, shortness of breath, fatigue, sore throat, sneezing, shivers, feeling really hot, and loss of taste. I'm thinking it's either an undetected mutation or God knows what
@pgiulan@GottaLaff I was just reading in a previous thread that this latest Covid variant avoids detection from over the counter tests for the first week of symptoms. Please be careful!
@GottaLaff
I learned last night that a family member just contracted COVID for the third time…from her daughter whose “semester abroad” group ALL became sick on the way home from Europe.
@GottaLaff interesting. The Kentucky school that closed for a week had about 20% of people absent due to Covid. Seems to be the proportion of people getting sick - for now.
The current plans seem to be moving towards getting COVID, flu, and RSV (if you're in risk groups; mostly young and seniors) at the same time. Separate shots, but they can be done in one visit
@olav It wasn't just a group. It was an article that cited a reputable source that, of course, I can't remember now. Like a major source. Sorry my memory lapsed. @metacosm@fuzzychef
@fuzzychef Yeah, I do it 2 weeks apart for that reason, and because, as I said, I read about some unpleasant consequences if you take them together. @olav@metacosm
A year ago, there were studies showing that (a) side effects were increased getting both at once, and (b) they were slightly (like, 10%) less effective if you got both at once. However, since it's hard to get folks to come in for multiple shot appointments, it was still better to get both at once than risk many patients not getting both.
Now I can't find those sources. Some of them have been specifically changed or taken down. It's a bit disturbing ...
Makes sense. Kaiser is on the cusp of call you twice a week about a flu shot season. So whatever it takes.
Personally, I would/will still get both at once. It's not an aversion to needles, it's an aversion to leaving the house for MH reasons. But I also still mask unless absosmurfly necessary.
