If browsers adopted native Markdown support in some fashion, that would do more to standardize the many Markdowns than anything else in the world.

It would also render about 50 OSS projects redundant.

Apparently there are web components that do markdown rendering. Nice.

@Crell not a web component for now though (there is an old open PR on it to port it)

@stof Oh bah. Spoke too soon. It's such a natural fit for that problem space.

@Crell
I am looking forward to see -webkit-markdown. /s

@Crell And leave us with at least 3 different ways markdown is rendered.

Chrome, Firefox and WebKit style... 🤪

And then some designer comes arou d and wants pixel-perfect rendering in all 3 versions....

@Crell It would be so cool to be able to create entire websites using only Markdown files (i.e. no build step and prior rendering to HTML).

@Crell@phpc.social avatar

@cedx I don't know if going that far is possible; You almost certainly need to add CSS somewhere.

@Crell Let's another Markdown spec that allows the use of a stylesheet 🤪

@Crell I'm sure Atlassian would find a way to screw that.
