To respond to many of you, no , we don’t take time on these “commutes” to/from Canada for side trips or sightseeing. We beeline 9 hours at a stretch from stop to stop, only pause to eat lunch in the car and make necessary stops. These are never leisurely treks. We do this 6x a year to fulfill perm residency obligations in BC until we can move permanently. 👍🏻
@GottaLaff I know why Americans and Canadians don't want a system as in the EU, where all inhabitants of the EU can live in any of the EU countries they choose. Everyone would be moving to Canada.

@GottaLaff Is housing roughly equal in cost, and, if you do not mind answering, is there any tax advantage? (Obv, not like taking up legal residence in FL.)
@RVLara23 As I explained in my post: to maintain our permanent residency. We’re required to live there 2 years out of 5. We’ve had to go up for only a month at a time and then return to Calif. to care for father in law. Then we go back up for another month. You can fulfill the time in any increments so this is how we’ve had to do it.
