Aside: I notice we use both and here in Canada. I will never forgive the internet standards people for going with the 2-letter iso names instead of the 3-letter ones for country-TLDs and language-codes.

3-letter codes would prevent the "is CA Canada or California".

The biggest countries use 2-letter state/prov codes, so 3-letter countries would prevent ambiguity.

My site should be Pxtl.can, written in en-can not Pxtl.ca written in en-ca.

@Pxtl At least in my feed, I'm seeing a lot more usage of both and , but very little , FWIW

@deborahh @Pxtl I was going to say, I've seen cdnpoli and canpoli, but never capoli!

@timbray @deborahh @Pxtl Yes, there was definitely a poll and a conversation. I think I follow both? lol

@stephanie @timbray @deborahh @Pxtl I'd far prefer using ISO3 codes (so CanPoli), but it looks like that's not where people are going. I've never been fond of the "Cdn" abbreviation.

@david_megginson @stephanie @timbray @deborahh yes, I refuse to use out of principle. is flawed but I have standards about standards.

@Pxtl @david_megginson @stephanie @timbray ok. Then we may not find your posts, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯ 🙂

    @david_megginson @Pxtl @stephanie @timbray I, too, use yyyymmdd format whenever I can.
    A) unambiguous
    2) so, easy to proofread for me
    c) sortable !

    I mean if I wasn't willing to make ridiculous compromises because I care about matters of principle I wouldn't be on Mastodon, now would I?

    This whole site is one big weird hill to die on, and I'm okay with that.

    @stephanie I avoid caPoli for the reason @Pxtl mentions: ambiguous 😕
