How 'bout they stop panicking about their position at the top of the heap being threatened and get tf out of the way so we can address these threats, in a calm, cool, collected, science-acknowledging manner?

@Heinke@trendless Isn't he the guy who ate out, got COVID, passed out in his bathroom and cut his head open, got top-of-the-line medical care from the hospital he works at, recovered, and made a big deal about he's just going to keep eating out and getting COVID because why the fuck not?
The problem is you and other people replying are (for good reason) assuming we won’t have a rapid investigation, including diagnosis and sequencing,,and subsequent communication about the results.
It’s terrible we’ve been trained by experience to expect that this is an even larger warning sign.
The thing is, it might be, and it might not be. The important thing is that we get facts quickly, and then a proportional response.
@trendless It baffles me that everything has to be a crisis or not a big deal. It’s absurd that our journalism is so dependent on ad revenue, via clicks and views, we have such a bastardized reporting system.
What should be happening is a clear message –a single message, that provides a timeline and outlines possible scenarios.
This could absolutely be immunity debt , and it could be a new strain of COVID-19, and it could be a new strain of pneumonia, or it could be something else entirely.
I suspect when people order others to calm down, it's because it's triggered panic in themselves. It also could be because there is genuine cause to panic. Eg., beginning of covid pandemic.
The elites don't want panic because it will interrupt their money supply.
@JaneDoeTheFirst that sounds right to me. I feel like panic also has the potential to result in unrest, which is one thing the very few rightly recognize is a legitimate threat to their grip on power.
Great point! Even the hint of cause for panic is a worry that the sand is shifting beneath their feet. Gotta control the masses.
North Americans are so comfy and pampered, that rising up has never occurred to them. (But neither does acknowledging Covid as the 'respiratory illness'. Heh.)

I'm not a political animal but even I can see the machinations. Peasants pampered and pandered to, and gorging on endless distractions. Gotta feed their base desires and offer brutish solutions. Sigh.
@PacificNic right? The same things as always still work and will presumably continue to -- unless we get really 🤬d. To me, though, it indicates there will be yet another tsunami of cynical [cow][manure] incoming, replete with more coercive measures to force people to go along with chaos, disability, destruction, and death. Just when the cracks have been starting to show, here comes a bunch of paid bricklayers to patch it over.
