    n_develop,

    @RobW Well, „Eat. Pray. Love.“ made me run away screaming. My wife said it’s a classic. 🤷‍♂️

    @RobW Jordan Peele stuff is pretty good:

    @RobW I'm no expert of the genre but I've seen "The Innocents" last year and I loved it. The atmosphere is close to "Let the right one in" but this is way better IMO

    angelo,

    @RobW If you’ve not seen it, It Follows is great. I also really enjoyed M3gan though I’m not sure that qualifies as horror, exactly?

    @RobW maybe @sheepchase has some suggestions? sheepie?

    @RobW Dark City. Horror/SciFi

    @RobW Some of my go-to recommendations for iften overlooked kind-of-indy horror films are Pontypool, The Innkeepers, Trick 'r Treat, House of the Devil, and The Witch (although The Witch might be a bit much for her from your description)

    @RobW Hereditary was unexpected in many ways

    southwesterly,

    @RobW Cabin in the Woods? The first Saw (none of the others), Men, The Lighthouse (sort of a horror), The VVitch, anything by A24 films… hope that helps? You’re likely to have seen them all anyway.

    @RobW totally, so many horrors are far from original.
    A few recentish favourites that I thought were original and stand up as solid movies:

    • The Lighthouse
    • Midsommar
    • The Menu

    @RobW @CStamp I watched “The Endless” a while back and enjoyed it. Original premise. 👍🏻

    Lisavipes,

    @RobW I really enjoyed "I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House" if she enjoys a good classic ghost story.

    @RobW 1982 version of The Thing. Fright Night (1985), The Frighteners (1996). 13 Ghosts, 1960, is more fun than scary, but I absolutely love the end. :)

    @RobW I don’t know if it really qualifies as horror, but I enjoyed Anna and the Apocalypse.

    @RobW I’m in the same boat with horror, but I quite enjoyed Barbarian (2022); it’s definitely horror and definitely hits some tropes, but plays with those tropes and your expectations, definitely smarter and more interesting than the average I reckon. (YMMV, I make no promises!)

    @RobW
    Speak No Evil is pretty original (and horrifying).
    Infinity Pool has just come to digital, but I don't think it is available to rent yet.
