    @matt I prefer the look of the wood picture, the wood has better contrast to the keyboard, and it’s warmer and friendlier. That said, the starkness of the white one pops a little more and I could imagine it standing out better on YouTube and I'm 0% of an expert on what does better engagement on YouTube.

    @Daojoan I have no idea what’s going on inside the company, but I’d say the App Store version history speaks to it: an app from a big software company with 1 update in the last 2 years? (And nothing worth updating the release note text in over 3 years) Seems pretty dead to me.

    The iOS 17.4 beta made most of my shortcuts unusable. (Every shortcut that used the ‘Get My Shortcuts’ action stopped working.)

    So I had to DFU my iPhone, go back to 17.3, and in the process I:

    • Forgot to back up my WhatsApp and lost years of conversations;
    • Lost all my Shortcuts automations since they don’t sync with iCloud.

    @viticci Oh no that sucks. ☹️ Could you get the WhatsApp messages back by going back to the 17.4 beta, restoring the device backup, then backing up WhatsApp? (Massive pain, but if the conversations are meaningful to you, maybe worth it?) Could also then at least screenshot the Shortcuts automations too for recreating?

    Love that Plex just decided to email everyone's watching habits to their friends. Great choice. Definitely wanted my straight friends to know I jerked off to "Skuff II: Downright Filthy" last night. 😅

    @aphyr @nelson You should have been shown two screens at some point; one to opt-in or out of view state syncing, and another more recently to opt in or out of the social sharing stuff, and would have needed to opt-in to both for any of this to be shared with friends. (1/2)

    @viticci @johnvoorhees I do think the Verge's take on this is overly harsh, like yeah of course they still used lighting, gimbals, drones, etc. They used all that before, the impressive part is that they took out the incredibly expensive camera they were using, slotted in a normal iPhone, and no-one could tell!

    Does anyone know of a 5K (or better) monitor that works with modern MacBooks and modern Windows laptops? I want a comfortable retina resolution on Mac. Most 5K monitors seem to only be ultrawide non-retina.

    Bonus points for good color reproduction. DCI P3 or HDR would be nice, but not a deal-breaker.

    Are there any reviews of the new FineWoven Apple Watch bands? I’ve seen all the hate for the iPhone cases, but I’m curious on the quality of the watch bands like the modern buckle and I’ve seen absolutely nothing about those.

    There's been a spate of commits to the CocoaPods spec repo that adds a super dodgy looking bash script to a bunch of pods that looks like it maybe tries to scrape credentials off your system and send them somewhere(??). Their “Compatibility” feels surprisingly restrictive and I’m wondering if they’re just being overly cautious as they don’t wanna be responsible for people dropping their phones, or if it’s actually no good with a bare device or silicone case etc. 🤔

    @rafa I’d say if you want better sound quality and are in a living situation where you can have extra bass (no sleeping kids, or apartments with noise sensitive neighbours etc) then sub would be my top pick, if you want to have that surround experience (you watch movies or well produced TV shows) and have a space that can accommodate rear speakers then add rears. If neither of those and you just wanna spend money for a better sound then Arc upgrade.

    Suspicious stuff is happening with my Instagram account again…

    Now my account has been suspended for impersonating a well known figure? Is it me? Am I impersonating me? I’m not aware of any other “Alex Stevenson-Price” 😆 I’ve hit the button to appeal, we’ll see what happens! 🤷🏻‍♂️ I assume this is another lazy attempt to grab my account if I hadn’t noticed?

    Remember those crypto bros that stole my Instagram account, then I got it back, but then my account got suspended for “impersonation” for ages? Well, looks like they got my handle in the end, there’s a new account at https://www.instagram.com/alexprice/ again, and based on my app (which I’m still locked out of) my account has been renamed to alexprice this time. So I lost that battle against evil it seems, the crypto bros won! 🤷🏻‍♂️
