I need one of those russian flap hats for riding my bike in the winter. The only thing that really gets cold is my ears, even wearing a beanie

@MLE_online So, I’ve had a Pakul wool hat (Afghanistan/Pakistan) for decades - it rolls down over the ears and does the job great here in NE winters and very comfy and toasty in general.
It also squishes down nicely so that I ALWAYS have it one the pockets in my jacket.

@Wraithe That looks like a pretty nifty hat

@MLE_online If I said the aesthetics didn’t sway me, I would be lying😂, but at the end of the day it’s about “are my ears about to fall off” and they save me from that regularly!

pwalck,

@MLE_online I've been using these for ten years: https://www.earbags.com/en

They are easy to keep in a pocket, they keep my ears warm and do not interfere with my helmet.

@pwalck @MLE_online My daughter got me some of these last year for Christmas/my birthday for me when I’m out on my Harley and while they look ludicrous, I can attest that they work!

Eorlingur,

@MLE_online the flaps catch wind and flap around, not covering the ears well enough. I have a windproof headband that is great down to well below freezing.

@Eorlingur Just tie the strap underneath and then they don't flap!

@MLE_online I have a Russian officer’s map case, but that won’t keep you warm, lol.

@ukuku maybe there's vodka hidden inside. that would make me feel like i was warm

@MLE_online
I just ordered the first scarf of my life, from AliExpress. Wish me luck. Bike causality.

@tomjennings I have several scarves, but I never wear them while biking. I should do that!

@MLE_online A ushanka might be overkill depending on where you are :)

I usually just wear a thin headband that covers my ears and easily fits under a helmet.

@azonenberg I feel like if i had one of those, I could just wear my exercise pants and a t shirt and be comfortable
