typewriteralley,

A bill advancing through the Washington legislature would make neighborhood cafes legal by-right in all residential areas in every city and town in the state.

@typewriteralley

Cafes humanise a place. I once worked in an antiseptic modern office building, forming one of 3 sides of a triangle. It had its own cafeteria where you could eat healthy, wholesome food. But the traffic island in the middle of the intersecting streets had a small, ramshackle greasy spoon which specialised in fry-ups. Heart attack heaven.

Guess where people went for lunch? I loved that place so much that I had to stop going because I was packing on too many pounds.

@typewriteralley single family zoning must go, but this is important too. We need small stores and restaurants to make walkable neighborhoods a reality

@typewriteralley Great, as long as that proposal also says "but not Starbucks"

Pepperbike,

@disky00 @typewriteralley How about no national/international chains at all.
