@MLE_online I love your bike bullshit!

What if i made the fork this long

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

This looks like a reasonable length for the fork. Yes, the wheels are different sizes. It's what I have on hand

jbaggs,

@MLE_online What is that hub on the front with all the flange?

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@jbaggs it's a dynamo hub

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

I decided to make the fork a little longer than it was in the last photo

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

Tacked in place. No going back now

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

Done. And I got the spacing basically right on

@MLE_online You bring back childhood memories where we jammed cut up forks into existing forks, making them stay with hammers and if you were rich: epoxy.

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@meuon This is the kind of memory @smellsofbikes would like

smellsofbikes,
@smellsofbikes@mastodon.social avatar

@MLE_online @meuon this is terrifying and awesome.
I had a Murray mountain bike where the tubes were crimped over the tabs on the dropouts and spot welded. The spot welds broke so we drilled through and hammered a nail into the hole.
...it did not last long.

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@smellsofbikes @meuon My esquire has crimped tubes like that. It seems pretty sketchy.

tedyapo,
@tedyapo@fosstodon.org avatar

@MLE_online you could sit very far from the table and still reach your delicious dinner

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@tedyapo I could sit on the couch and comfort while having my dinner on the dining table like a civilized person

bendelarre,
@bendelarre@mastodon.social avatar

@MLE_online thinking of joining the Black Label Bicycle Club?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Label_Bike_Club

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@bendelarre I would like to build a tall bike at some point. It seems fun

scrottie,
@scrottie@anarchism.space avatar

@MLE_online Oh hey you might wind up looking at my friend Partrick!

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@scrottie That's really fun!

acsawdey,
@acsawdey@fosstodon.org avatar

@MLE_online You are making me think of these folks who (I think) were regulars at the "In the Heart of the Beast Puppet & Mask Theater May Day Parade" that used to be held in the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis:

acsawdey,
@acsawdey@fosstodon.org avatar

@MLE_online Hard Times Bike Club ... their technology was stacking two frames to get the height.

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@acsawdey I've seen that and I want to try it sometime

SarraceniaWilds,
@SarraceniaWilds@mstdn.ca avatar

@MLE_online ooh ooh whats up this time

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@SarraceniaWilds I'm working on expando-bike project again. I increase the size of the frame and now I need to make the fork match
