@ivory mostly that. There’s no progress bar on iOS upload and when I was posting from Photos it always failed. But images did not. Dunno how long to wait.
@rosyna Yea we plan to show some sort of progress when sharing videos when we redo the compose view. When it successfully posts, there is a success sound and a notification bar that slides down in the timeline. And then you should see your post in your timeline soon after.
@schwa assuming you are running 1.8.3? We haven’t had any issues posting very large images whether they are heic or png’s. Ivory will resize and compress them. Assuming these issues are just related to mastodon servers occasionally being a bit too busy the moment you happen to be posting. It’s pretty rare, but occasionally happens on our own server as well. But we are keeping track of these issues and making improvements where we can.
@ivory I have a post with four pngs that just won’t post on WiFi or cellular. There’s a good 5 minute or more delay before getting the red banner (if I am still in app). I’m assuming the PNGs are too large for mastodon.social ans obviously unless Ivory is resizing them there’s not much y’all can do to reduce file size.
@christianselig They should go through. Just takes time to process and we currently don't have any progress to show what's happening. We just fixed a bunch of stuff to make them work much more reliably. Are you waiting and seeing the red error message? Or just seems like nothing happens and you leave the app?
@ivory I'll try to make more of a note if it happens again so my bug report can be a bit more useful haha. From what I remember it would take a long time (much longer than the website) for any response, and then the red error would occur
@christianselig We made a bunch of changes to this maybe a month ago? So shouldn't be happening as of recently if you are running the latest. But who knows if it's still an issue on mastodon.social.
@ivory@christianselig When I go to post cat videos/multiple photos from Photos to Ivory, I get a compose sheet, then send and it seems like nothing happens. Even if I go straight to ivory, no acknowledgment I even sent them.
@rosyna@christianselig This is completely unrelated to Christian's issue. We are currently rebuilding our share sheet so it should be better in the future.
@christianselig@schwa Also want to verify you guys actually are on 1.8.3? We fixed a bunch of media posting related issues in 1.8.3 and our releases are set to roll out over time.
@ivory just reposted it while I wrote previous response. 10 minutes. No red banner, not in drafts. If I kill all it’ll likely be back in drafts. But year in a weird limbo state.
@schwa@ivory I've seen this too. Had to split the post into 4 separate posts with a single image on each one. Almost certainly a server-side issue, but the lack of feedback is confusing.
