Russians staying in Sri Lanka have showed their gratitude by creating a number of “whites only" night clubs, denying access to local Sri Lankans. So Sri Lankan authorities now decided to help the racists by telling all 288,000 Russians in Sri Lanka to take the next flight back to good old Moscow, where the average skin color is more to their liking.

The Russians who participated in creating "whites only" clubs should obviously be expelled. But it is interesting that you are celebrating the collective punishment of 288,000 people - which will likely lead to the conscription and death of many - for the actions of a handful of them.

British Colonization ended less than a century ago, horrifying stories of how locals were treated at the hands of the Racist White Colonials are still widely known.
This is an under-reaction if any. If it were #India or #Pakistan, its very likely mobs would be stirring to punish the 're-colonials'.
Sri Lankan Gov is trying an incredible balancing act.
The Japanese living in Haryana (esp. Gurgaon) have helped in developing the land and generated employment by creating factories and opened offices. Their communities are gated and open ONLY to their friends, colleagues, and maids. They also have their own Karaoke(s) where ONLY the Japanese are allowed. If you go, they'll politely tell you that they're closed. Locals don't complain nor cry racism, racism. Smart!
Those Russian currently living there are mostly trying to get away from Putin regime. Many of them are actually very "world open" maybe even a bit to open for some "conservative " Sri Lankan religious hardliner.
Hard to tell from the distance what really goes on but not all Russian are evil, that should be clear.

Putin was democratically elected for his first term while he was endorsing extrajudicial persecution of journalists and imperialist war in Chechnya. All the red flags were there, with opportunities to protest and outvote these criminals, and yet they've chosen to do almost nothing and then suddenly realize it's too late.
@randahl unfortunately this also affects „some Ukrainians“ (according to the article, the clubs are run by Russians, but Ukrainian visitors are also affected by the ban)
I really hope it affects all of the Ukrainians in Sri Lanka too, because they often behave even worse than the Russians.
Prostitution is immense.
Illegally buying up Guesthouses and Hotels etc with illegal money, then making them 'whites only' has become the norm, drawing even more Russians and Ukrainians to Sri Lanka.
The highest aggression in public comes from Ukrainians, second are Russians, and so on..
I hope Thailand would finally also react like Sri Lanka.
It is a grave mistake to assume that because a group of people have been subject to a great harm that they are then are incapable of perpetrating awfulness.
