Still catching up on episodes of #TOTP that I’ve missed, and this episode opens with Sleeper and, well, Louise Wener has once again rendered me insensible.
I love seeing Nick Cave and Kylie perform, because she’s a clear foot shorter than he is. The camera operator has to be very careful when panning from one to the other during tight closeups. #TOTP
If you’ve never seen 24 Hour Party People, you should remedy that. It’s an excellent history of Joy Division, New Order, and Factory Records, with Steve Coogan as Tony Wilson.
Onto the next episode of #TOTP. Largely unremarkable thus far, but Meat Loaf doing I’d Lie For You (And That’s The Truth) is a fun time. Meat Loaf could be accused of many things, but only giving it a half measure is not one of them.
Not at all surprised to note that Dianne Warren wrote ‘I’d Lie For You (And That’s The Truth). Was this in the years when Meat was rowing with Steinman? Steinman and Warren are literally the only two songwriters who could supply Meat with adequate tunes. #TOTP
