@gimulnautti I've only seen about half of the Chinese one and it's very faithful to the book except one aspect and maybe you can guess that if you read the books and know how China is.
Some of it is exactly how I imagined it though. It also doesn't even leave out all the accurate technical stuff. I've never seen any show do that.
@apodoxus The books are quite full of super nerdy stuff that personally I enjoyed. The english adaptation brushed past it very quickly and focused on character development.
But yeah, the books are also not super in-line with the current tow of the CCP boat, so I think I get what you mean.
@gimulnautti Exactly. They took out all the stuff criticizing the cultural revolution as far as I can tell. I recall that being very early on in the books and I'm way past that in the story.
@apodoxus Yeah. The first book especially. Written in a time of less censorship. Ruthless criticism of Maoism. The western adaptation unsurprisingly shows that very well.
