@alcinnz In the case of RSS feeds, it was not a big company that made this technology, once used everywhere, into something niche. Many websites stopped providing them and even Firefox started requiring an extension or configuration to use them. Unfortunately most users don't see the value in open standards or open source. Email survives, among other reasons, because it's required in many countries by government institutions, but Gmail and Outlook are crushing the competition.
