rbreich,

Biden wants a 25% tax on billionaires.

Trump wants to double down on his tax cuts, which have already fueled billionaire wealth.

This isn’t complicated.

Billionaires are funneling cash to Trump’s campaign for a tax break.

Anyone else supporting him is being duped.

@rbreich

Since Trump intends to end democracy once in office, the corollary here is that the billionaires are funding a war on democracy with the intent of transforming the US into an oligarchy.

load_dependent,

@mastodonmigration @rbreich Billionaires are inherently antidemocratic.

It indeed seems like a good number of them are ready for a new form of governance.

@mastodonmigration @load_dependent @rbreich That good number? 100%!

load_dependent,

@mastodonmigration @rbreich I mean the concept of the super reach entails concentration of wealth and power in individuals on such a different scale than the average that it’s undemocratic by it’s nature.

@load_dependent @rbreich

Agreed that the scale is off the charts, and it is hard to imagine how such disparity twists the minds of those in that position, but active engagement in dismantling democracy and replacing it with a Russian style oligarchy is probably limited to a subset. These villains are so motivated by power and personal gain that they would seak to destroy our system of governance. This is the existential crisis, and there are specific individuals behind the schemes.

@rbreich @mastodonmigration Let’s remember that as we aggressively go after the billionaires. They started it.

@mastodonmigration @rbreich

The movement is much larger than the US. The US seems to be one theater in a larger global play to create a rightwing paradise for people who are tired of the laws being different every time they land their plane.

@rbreich only 25%? The top marginal rate in the 1950s was 91% over $200,000 (~$2m today).
