The GOP are not becoming the worker party. offers nothing like universal health care or better working conditions. It still wants to shift the tax burden (or debt) more towards middle/lower income Americans than the wealthy. The problem is Democratic leaders now care less about workers than used to, even though more Dems than GOP still do. So Dem promises rarely become law even when they do have power, and GOP attacks on Dems as being lying elitists ring more true.

Batya is dead on here imo that workers don't want government support when the alternative is getting paid a living wage and benefits. Jobs that we are told Americans don't want to do and can't find value in, so they have to go to immigrants. That's bullshit and something I hate most Dems with being fine with. But nobody is talking about solving this, cause it would mean both lower CEO pay, a declining stock market and more expensive goods and services. We all take advantage of the working poor.

If you actually have classic liberal values, the Democrat party is an anathema to everything you believe. The party threw actual liberals overboard in favor of radical progressive policies that sideline the TAX BASE in favor of identity politics. That is idiocy, and they deserve to be pilloried for it. I'd also mention the way they sold us out to pharma, but both sides did that. The dems just screamed in people's faces harder, demanding that we give away our vey bodily autonomy.

neither party is very liberal at this point. elected GOPs still claim Trump won while being fine claiming victory with votes from those tainted or illegal ballots. Trump went after Assange when Obama wouldn't. Greenwald has been repeatedly pointing out how the right has completely flipped on free speech now that it's anti Israel voices that need defending.

I want a left liberal party. It doesn't exist. I'll go barely left illiberal over right illiberal till we get .

Ranked choice voting SUCKS ASS. All that has to happen for one candidate to emerge supreme is for all of the other candidates in her party to drop out while the opposing party retains more than one contender. Because of ranked-choice voting being introduced in Alaska (and not being well understood by the electorate), and the Republican ticket being split, the single Democrat (her opponent dropped out FOR THIS PURPOSE) emerged victorious in a state that is historically Republican.

In the first election, vote for whoever. The top five go to the general. The general is RCV.

party frames are misleading imo. people are not Dem or GOP. we hold a mix of views and often care more about candidate than party. this better allows for that kind of voting. it removes the power of party elites and money to determine candidates in low turnout primaries. it makes good faith campaigns more likely.

more might choose red vs blue, but maybe only when purply blue isn't an option.

why didn't all of Begich's voters make Palin their 2nd choice? Peltola didn't win on the first round of tabulation. Out of Begich's 52k votes, 16k went to Peltola and 27k went to Palin (9k didn't pick a 2nd).

that we end up with more people getting to vote for someone closer to their liking (without being told they're a spoiler), and the winner is preferred by more than 50% over the other candidates is a win imo. also we get back to people first not party unlike in parliamentary systems.
