@grmpyprogrammer that's mind boggling to me. I've a set of juniors here who have gone from Java (school) to PHP, python, and C# all at the same time.

Python has actually been the "this is weird" outlier in learning. The majority of C based languages are easy to jump around in...

@grmpyprogrammer I was once the lead backend developer of a project — because the previous lead left and I was the only person with technical knowledge of the framework we were using. When hiring PHP developers proved to be difficult the owner of the project came with the ingenious solution of hiring Python developers and migrate the whole backend. I consider my answer was a pretty sensible one: you do that and I quit this very moment.

@maxalmonte14 No argument from me on your tactic. My point was you can teach any competent programmer to do stuff with PHP. Folks are being asshole snobs looking down at the language.

@grmpyprogrammer So many languages have so much in common, that similarities make it easier to switch to a different language.

@grmpyprogrammer If they can't (or don't want to) learn PHP when they "know*" Python, you might have a totally different problem.

Also with them doing Python....

*whatever "know" means...
