I am grateful to this monumental buffoon for helping me more clearly identify a broad cagtegory of bad actor. He's taught me that anyone who says "this is the only way to solve this problem" is an irredemable asshole who must be mercilessly shunned.
@arstechnica Musk is no longer "speedrunning" old ideas about how to run social media, but he's still working through that backlog. "Nobody would spam if it cost money" is an old idea.
I don't think it works in this age though.
There are lots of people who will pay a dollar to be certified as "real." Perhaps more fake people than real ones.

@arstechnica I wonder if the real purpose isn't to get more people to have a credit card on file so it's easier to make sales when Twix tries to introduce some kind of purchasing through the site.
