    So much for free speech on X; Musk confirms new users must soon pay to post

    The fee, likely $1, is aimed at stopping “relentless” bots, Musk said.

    @arstechnica Why do I get the feeling that the one-off $1 fee might "accidentally" turn into a recurring fee of whatever he's now charging for the blue tick of shame

    Do real people really trust Elmo to be honest with their banking info?

    Also cue the "If you want x to keep being free click here now" scams

    I've been experimenting with today because I want a way to condense multiple versions on media (4K, 1080P) in a listing and it works well using the "Name Year - 4K" naming scheme for films but I cannot get it working with episodes of TV shows

    Does anyone know if it is possible for Jellyfin to do this with TV show episodes or is it only possible movies?

    chrisdoestech, (edited )
    @chrisdoestech@fosstodon.org avatar

    @joel I followed the guide and it works well for movies but the shows section doesn't mention the stacking of versions like the movies section does but does mention adding special features

    I tried "Show name S01E01 - 4K" and "Show name S01E01 - 1080P" and it doesn't show up so I am wondering if it is actually possible to do this for shows

    Maybe I'm too corpratist, but why do companies like Epic think they can force Apple and Google to allow Epic Games into their app stores for free? I get it that 30% is outrageous. It is. But Epic seems to want to be in the stores for free, without having to ever pay any fees to be there.

    It just doesn't make sense to me.

    chrisdoestech,
    @chrisdoestech@fosstodon.org avatar

    @thelinuxcast I'm not a fan of any of them, they all want the same thing but the typical capitalist response is if you don't like one system then go build your own

    Epic have been trying to do that but Apple built a walled garden then actively blocked any competition & enforced their monopoly to the detriment of the users

    Google are just using scary words about side-loading but they don't block it yet

    Anyone should be able to compete with their own stores regardless of what I think of them

    Fuck you, Mozilla. No one is asking for AI in Firefox. Sadly, you’re the best we can hope for under capitalism. So if we want something better, we should look into alternative models.

    Out of interest what issues are you having with Librewolf being too strict with privacy?

    I use it as a daily driver and the only issue I have with any site is with Canva because sometimes the fonts don't render correctly but for this I just pop into Brave with everything else working fine in LW

    @Deus @aral that's fair enough. I was just asking because I've not run into any real issues myself but that doesn't mean there aren't any and its always good to find the limitations

    @happyborg @mozilla I'm not anti Firefox but I will not blindly ignore the issues because "at least its not chrome"

    My set up on Fedora is Firefox for streaming, Librewolf for YT, content creation etc and Brave for everything else but I will likely shift more to Librewolf because I don't like that Chromium is killing alternative engines

    Android is my sticking point. FF submarines google trackers and FF Focus/Klar don't have extension support for adblocking yet which leaves me with Brave

    chrisdoestech,
    @chrisdoestech@fosstodon.org avatar

    @happyborg @mozilla interestingly, FF Focus/Klar has options to block Ad/Analytics/Social trackers so maybe a good choice despite lacking extension support. Focus just needs the studies etc disabled but Klar has it switched off by default given its target territory

    It seems to block YT ads too. I will test this over the next week or so as my Android browser and see how I get on with it as an alternative to brave

    What sucks even more is that it's the only viable candidate that isn't based.

    Even worse, is using this monopoly to impose an ever more enclosed, centralised and oppressive web. 😱
