@Jennifer "spicy" bees are the ones that don't like beekeepers in the hive, and either bop you in the head, threaten to attack you, or sting--even if you are wearing a suit. (these were bopping us, but if we did not have suits they would likely sting). The more bees around your head bopping you the more aggressive the hive... these were only 2-3 boppers... the worse hive we had you'd have a dozen. The ones I've seen of fully Africanized hives (in Texas) they have a hundred on your face... (you don't want that).
@meganL Tons of smoke, and a spray bottle filled with sugar water... drench the bees with sugar water so they can't fly anywhere, but you aren't hurting them... find the queen. Take her somewhere else and mash her, they'll create a new queen. They'll eat all the sugar water off each other in a day.
