I'm all for UBI, but a couple grand a year is what I would call a "good start".

While I'm wishing for pie in the sky, it'd be nice to have a monetary source not tied to the oil industry.

It changes from year to year. Its a dividend based on the success of the fund.

Strictly speaking it isnt a UBI but in practice it is similar.

In 2023 it was $1312 for the year. I don’t know if that’s per person or per household.
Alaska calls it the Permanent Fund Dividend rather than UBI.

Looks like they have to apply each year. The amount, and whether a person qualifies is based on different factors - one being how much the oil industry gained from Alaskan oils. The program relies on oil profits. So in reality they’ve set it up to encourage oil use. 🤦‍♀️

Data scie tist here. None of those things have any reason to suspect they are connected to the fund. In fact studies trying to show some overall benefit have been quite weak to come up with any. IMO the harm, while hard to quantify, significantly outweighs the good, that thats another matter.
