So the WNBA premiere of Caitlin Clark was televised. But the WNBA premiere of Angel Reese (2023 champ who beat Caitlin Clark) and Kamila Cardoso (2024 champ who beat Caitlin Clark), wasn't televised or available to stream in the app. So... A fan set up a bootleg stream. 430K viewers tuned in to watch.🤯
@mekkaokereke of course it's not about money. It's about machismo sexist b*******. Don't want the men to feel like they're not the most important thing in the entire universe.
A different and better conversation that we should be having, is "If we put too many WNBA preseason games on, will it draw eyeballs away from NBA playoff games?"
That's a real question!
But we don't want to have it, because it's too much of a narrative violation to accept that a WNBA preseason game might be more exciting than an NBA playoff game. 🤷🏿♂️

Other sports where women compete with and beat men: Ultra marathoning.
Courtney Dauwalter runs the MOAB 240, a 240 mile race. She had the course record, regardless of gender, for 5 years. David Goggins is a former Navy Seal, multiple world record holder in endurance sports, and the person who some consider to be the toughest man on earth.
Dauwalter is faster than Goggins, by 5 hours.🤷🏿♂️
I'm not questioning Goggins' toughness. He's super tough. And he can channel negativity, self-doubt, and darkness, and use it to fuel him to do superhuman things.
But Courtney is pretty tough too. She runs the same 240 miles, and runs them 5 hours faster. And she's able to channel happiness and positivity, and use that to fuel her to do super human things too.
We could talk about how her lighter bones, higher body fat, and estrogen, give her unfair advantages!

I've said this before. Men are not stronger than women. Men are bigger than women. Most men on earth are bigger than 123 lbs. Most women are smaller than 123 lbs. There are about as many men at 123 lbs as there are women at 123 lbs. Balance point. The strongest human on earth at 123 lbs, goes back and forth between men and women.
If you are a man, and you weigh 123 lbs or less, Emily Hu is stronger than you. If you are a man and you are stronger than Emily Hu, then you weigh more than 123 lbs. These statements are true for everyone other than very few men in history.
You could say that estrogen gave her an unfair advantage! Lighter bones, skeleton more lower body than upper body dominant: advantageous for powerlifting at 123 and under.
And her technique is almost certainly better than yours...
Testosterone lets you build more muscle faster. So if Emily wanted to get to 185 lbs of muscle, a typical 123 lb man would have an advantage.
But Estrogen gives you better muscle recovery, allowing you to do more volume.🤯
If your 1 rep max is 300 lbs, then 90% of that is 270 lbs. You should be able to lift that 4 times. Let's say you do 5 sets of 4. 20 reps. If you lift twice a week that's 40 reps of volume @ 90%.
What about 7 sets? 56 reps! Too much volume... for men
Paradoxically, if you already weigh 123 lbs at very low body fat, and are trying to get stronger, but still want to compete at 123 lbs, you may not actually want to add any more muscle mass.🤷🏿♂️
You want to train the mass that you already have, to be more consistent and effective at lifting maximum weight. To perfect your technique you may want to get more reps in close to your one rep max.
So there are trade-offs between growth and recovery.
@mekkaokereke@Uair@philip_cardella not a surprise or incompatible with above the above facts, but technique is incredibly important for getting above a certain amount of weight that's body weight dependent. Women being lighter tend to focus on technique more deeply in a lot of sports. Rock climbing being one where it's really obvious because men over rely on their arms and have to learn later to use their legs, while women predominantly use their legs from the start!
@mekkaokereke@philip_cardella So what I heard from this is if someone was brave enough 😉 to put the lady games on (preseason etc) they would probably get a promotion and be considered a TV genius and would make their network a lot of money... 🤑
