Did another thrift store visit today. Grabbed 49 CDs for $1 each. It's such a great time to grab physical media before people realize streaming platforms aren't the answer.

@gnitro ok this time I got this
That Alanis Morrisette CD is a banger

@fireweed LOL, it really is. My other copy was all scratched up, so this was a good pickup to get a better copy

@gnitro so are you ripping the cds onto a computer or using a cd player?
The lasers on those older cd players worry me

gnitro,
@gnitro@urusai.social avatar

@fireweed I'm doing both..first ripping to my NAS, so I can listen to the music via plexamp. It's so much cheaper to buy older CDs for a $1 or less, than $10 for a digital album lol

I have a newer shelf stereo I use to play CDs and cassettes

@gnitro enjoy the $1 CDs while you can, I’m willing to bet the market will get hot when the streaming subscriptions go up in price which we both know they will

gnitro,
@gnitro@urusai.social avatar

@fireweed That's why I'm trying to hit the local thrift stores as much as I can now. I know eventually people will start flocking back to CDs.

@gnitro we live in the worst time line 😂 technology was supposed to make things easier and cheaper and here we are

gnitro,
@gnitro@urusai.social avatar

@fireweed yup... It really sucks. 😔

@gnitro I reckon its a bit late. The price of records has gone through the roof the last couple of years.

gnitro,
@gnitro@urusai.social avatar

@Ooze I mean some releases have, both old and new. But I find plenty of vinyl albums at record stores for $5 to $10 here where I am at in the US. And I still get lucky at thrift stores where vinyls can be found for a couple bucks.

@gnitro in the last couple of years here in Australia used record and cd shops have been opening up and any half decent album is going for $50.

gnitro,
@gnitro@urusai.social avatar

@Ooze yeah some shops here do that for certain records, but not many outside of the ones that are highly sought after. CDs being that price is crazy, and I definitely wouldnt pay that. I stick to the thrift stores for CDs tho to get them really cheap
