@evan Tried it out. Not for me, for many reasons. I prefer it here, more civil and intelligent. An algorithm is only evil by design. I wish we could create our own personal ones as a tool, to function as we see fit. Like any tool, less work, saves time, better results.
@evan will you say 'signed up' they definitely presented it as a very easy natural extension to my existing Instagram. So I guess kinda... I said 'sure, let's see it '
Strong no, but I do have an Instagram account & I read the other day they were signing us all up automatically. 🙄 No idea if this is true because I'll never check.
@evan I signed in, I wanted to make sure I could protect my unique username, NOSTRILUU. Fortunately, it didn't force me to take a numbered NOSTRILUU. I poked around, it really seemed more of the same, but I bet the backend view is fascinating. I have seen some good spoofs of it, my favourite was the Wells Fargo one. Overall I'd give it a 4.
@evan Did not sign up, don't plan to, but I do hope that my Mastodon account will eventually be able to connect with friends and family who use Meta products.
@evan I’m using it to publish my MIL’s poetry for my partner to be able to read after she dies. She already has dementia, so it’s been fun to walk down memory lane with her and see her light up a bit as she tells me the stories about the poems.
