tchambers,

I'm just saying: the launch of
@wikipedia
@wikidata
@wikiresearch
nableDev
@wikisusdev
and @mediawiki ...

All that does feel like some big new steps.

So does moving to integrate Mastodon identify verification into software itself.

"The end goal is that I can put e.g. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Legoktm as a URL item and Mastodon will be able to verify it."

I'm going to be watching this VERY closely and supporting it however I can .👀

@tchambers @wikipedia @wikidata @wikiresearch @mediawiki

I had some earlier discussions with @mike_hales @bashrc and @bhaugen that led me to pen down some notes on how I'd like to see and technology to be combined, in what I called "Social Knowledge Fabrics".

https://discuss.coding.social/t/semmy-social-knowledge-fabrics/76

I've since added some more related resources to this topic.

Everywhere I see personal knowledge base software projects pop up. Imho collective knowledge gardening is way to go.

@shaisachs @smallcircles @tchambers @wikipedia @wikidata @wikiresearch @mediawiki @mike_hales @bashrc @bhaugen A 2y old post (link below) is making the rounds today and I immediately thought of this thread.

https://merveilles.town/@abundance/106060014488600006

@abundance built a directory of open source tools, and as of 2 years ago it used Google sheets as the source. So it doesn't work for people who block Google. Ironic.

We really need better tools for small databases!

@shaisachs @smallcircles @tchambers @wikipedia @wikidata @wikiresearch @mediawiki @mike_hales @bashrc @bhaugen @abundance BTW reading back this sounds like I'm being harsh on @abundance . Sorry about that. It was not my intention. This is really about missing tools in the open source ecosystem, not one developer's choices.

@teleclimber

I started the project. It's similar to Awesome project on by Sindre Sorhus, but only curates lists related to , and resources. If @abundance wants that, they might maintain their own sublist and be part of https://delightful.club that is steadily growing.

Btw for the others mentioned there's 3 / -related lists.

@shaisachs @tchambers @wikipedia @wikidata @wikiresearch @mediawiki @mike_hales @bashrc @bhaugen

shaisachs,

What this project brings to mind is not a list of delightful projects exactly, but more like delightful technologies:

  • small databases
  • offline-first apps / CRDTs
  • homomorphic encryption / ZKP for safe data sharing
  • place-based social networks as documented at publicspaces.net
  • fediverse, natch
  • Maybe RSS / semantic web for funsies

Not sure how that fits in to your site, happy to add em!

@shaisachs thank you! The site itself was created by @yarmo and the contents reflect the aggregate work of sublist maintainers and people contributing entries to these lists. Whichever of these topics interests you enough to maintain a sublist for.. the top-level project can include it as well.

shaisachs,

@smallcircles @yarmo Awesome - how do I contribute? Couldn't quite figure it out on the site.

@shaisachs Yay, contributions most welcome 🤗

There's a guide explaining some rules on the top-level repo at https://codeberg.org/teaserbot-labs/delightful/src/branch/main/delight-us.md

But if you want to start a sublist, easiest is to copy from an existing sub-list.

(Guide needs some updating, e.g. only a delightful-contributors.md is required next to README.md and license file)
