The debris cloud will probably be smaller next launch. Much of it is concrete blown off the pad.
This has damaged the pad and could be a real problem for SpaceX: They expect failures in testing and have rockets in the pipeline, but only one launch pad. There's a limit to how fast construction can be done, and this might be a serious delay. For next launch, expect a flame diverter, water deluge, or both.
It's not going to fix the noise after the rocket leaves the pad though.
@adamjcook@notsoloud@alexwild Scott Manley, a physicist who is now a space YouTuber, was saying that they would have a difficult time building a flame trench at that launch site. Not sure why. The groundwater table must be quite shallow as it is almost a wetland, so they can’t dig down much before the trench will fill with water. Cape Canaveral is not so different but is a barrier island.

Protection of the water? Musks decision already poisoned the groundwater & killed the trees. Private profits, public losses are the billionaires ethos
I hope that people who live or vacation in the area document and report any and all harm to wildlife and habitat. Hold SpaceX accountable to environmental regs.
Musk is not above the law. He has a lot of money. It’s gonna take the law quite a bit of time to catch up with him. Meanwhile, he destroys with abandon.
