As economic conditions worsen and criminality inevitably rises, this will only get worse. Polarization is through the roof because of wealth inequality and mass immigration will inevitably degrade societal coherence. Half the country hates the other half and both sides think they live in a tyranny. That’s pretty much true in all of the West. Unless you can find a way to forge a common identity again and return to a high-trust society, I don’t see this changing.

Living in the US, where we revoke the voting rights of Convicts, Jerrymander to rob the voice minority groups, and refuse to instate direct democracy over an electoral college. It is very hard for me to believe this was ever not the case. The only time peoples’ opinions seem to change is when they start being unable to put food on their plates.
