Climate activists turn Venice Grand Canal bright green

Activists have turned Venice’s famous Grand Canal bright green in protest at the ongoing COP28 UN climate summit in Dubai.

The Extinction Rebellion group unfurled a banner which read: "COP28: while the government talks, we're hanging on by a thread".

On Facebook, the group said the dye used was “a harmless salt” and that “in a few hours, these waters will return to the way they were before”.

The group also staged protests in numerous other Italian cities.
