@xtaran@bicripple the "Ordinary" was the bike with a large front wheel and fixed pedals, and then came the "safety bicycle" with the triangular frame. In any case, Extraordinary seems not to be a great or very correct term for the non-safety bicycles (also not a great term) so I'm no help. 🤷 I tend to just mention #cargoBikes or #adaptiveBikes as two kinds of atypical cycle that need to be considered in #BikeParking. At least that covers extra width or length consideration, sorry tallbikers.
Look what appeared in my office building! Two new staple racks. This is a LEED certified building with convenient underground parking, but the only racks were wall mounted. Many folks, including me, didn't bother with the wall racks and locked to handrails etc. instead (of course only in ways that didn't impede accessibility!). I don't know if anyone complained about the situation or the building manager was proactive, but it's great to see expanded #BikeParking options!
I just took my bike to drop off some dry cleaning, and I made a point of leaving my helmet on. There's a disappointing amount of contention around bike infrastructure in Berkeley lately, particularly targeting local business owners with fear, uncertainty, and doubt about losing parking to bike lanes etc... so I want to make sure folks know they already have plenty of customers visiting them by bike. #BikeTooter#cycling
@marcprecipice@lucas every time I do a review on Google maps --retail or restaurant-- I comment on the quality of the service/meal, AND the #BikeParking. And I delight in wearing my bike helmet while grocery shopping.
Today I brought home a patio plant stand on the back of my omafiets. It was fun watching the surprised faces of people in cars.
Staple-style covered bike racks at the Ontario Science Centre, steps from the entrance, accessible from a beautiful trail ride through the Don Valley. Doesn't get any better than this! #BikeTO #BikeTooter
