Well then...

I played the first 30 minutes of Half Life Alyx and I say this with no hesitation: this was one of the most eye-opening gaming experiences I've ever had.

I need to play more and I need to see if the feeling wears off, but moving around and interacting with that world is unlike anything I've experienced in games before.

@matt YES! Half Life Alyx was my first VR experience outside of a very rough Disney attraction in the early 2000s, and I was totally dumbfounded.

I literally stayed in the opening balcony scene to experiment with every tiny detail, and found myself saying "oh my god” over and over for 30 minutes 😂

I sincerely hope you enjoy the rest of the game. It's astonishingly good, and I can say without hesitation that it instantly ruined all other VR games for me. Maybe Apple Vision Pro will change that though🤞🏼

Probably a funny coincidence that these things are both introductions for new users, but follows the theme of over-notifying users. 😵‍💫

    @davidbures I absolutely love your work, and I hope you don't take offense if I give you some sincere feedback:

    “Your grandma can use Cork” might be perceived by some as ageist or ableist.

    There are plenty of grandmas out there who are far more technically adept than many young people are today.

    Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive - I see you note you literally did frequent user testing with your own mom and grandma, who perhaps aren't the most technical people, specifically.

    Either way, I hope this perspective is helpful to you, in case you hadn't considered it.

    Am I crazy or is there literally no way to set up a passkey for an Apple account on anything besides Apple Keychain?

    I've looked everywhere to delete my passkey or create a new one, but I can't find anywhere or any docs on how to do it.

    I want to set up my passkey in 1Password so I can sign into non-Safari browsers (something I do all the time) without finding my phone, scanning the QR code, and waiting like 5 seconds for it to work. Username and pass are easier here 🙁

    You also can't use the passkey Apple “automagically” creates, without also enabling iCloud Keychain autofill for both passkeys AND passwords EVERYWHERE :thisisfine:

    macOS Sonoma has unified its support for “passkeys” and “passwords”. Which means, among other things, that you can’t use webauthn in Safari unless you also enable its native password autofill. This is probably a big usability upgrade for normal users, but a huge annoyance for me, because I have been gradually onboarding onto iCloud passkeys for a little while, but use 1Password for passwords. Now, every webpage pops up the autofill UI for both 1password and safari, and the popups z-fight.

    @glyph @tychotithonus yup! I REALLY wanted to continue using iCloud Keychain for passkeys, but this new experience was irritating enough to get me to set up all my passkeys on 1Password and stop using iCloud Keychain altogether.

    I guess I will write a blog entry on this with pictures and stuff, but when you live in Central Europe, in a city, and you think about getting an electric bicycle, here's my advice. You want something practical. A city bike. Hub gears, 3 are enough, you'll only use the 3rd gear anyway as your bike is electric. You don't need fancy middle drive. Go for a 250W front wheel motor. Get a comfy saddle. Big bags. Make sure it has lights, mud flaps and chain protection. It's a tool. Go robust, not fancy
