The idea is simple enough; you extend the Seabike's pole to the appropriate length, then strap it to your waist with a belt. Then you find the pedals with your feet, and start turning the crank, with the waist strap to push against.

You know, there is nothing quite like a ride in the Spring and indeed today's commute was nothing quite like that. 😆

It was quite like a winter commute though and as I got going, I must admit I enjoyed it. 🌨️☃️

Video of a person moving along a snowy neigbourhood. The video pans down and you see they are riding a unicycle.

"I'm leaving the at the next stop. Please check if you have your wallet. If not the person with the reflective yellow jacket and the little clown bike in the first carriage is holding it for you."

Context: I found a wallet and tried to hand it to the conductor. He instead told me to hang on to it as it's likely to be from someone still on the train, and as he's leaving I'm holding on to it for now. He also said how much he likes Bromptons..

Does anybody know of a better umbrella term than "non-standard bicycle" for all bikes that are not the "standard" shape? So including bikes/trikes, and other but also etc

Some ideas if nothing exists already:

  • altercycle
  • laterocycle
  • pretercycle
  • teratocycle
  • nothocycle

I want language to talk about how storage infrastructure doesn't include bents, cargobikes, trikes, etc.

You all knew I would do it right? I did have to walk long sections. Some of it was the snow but more often than not it was stuck cars or slow walking pedestrians getting in my way. I feel the city council needs to make a law that slow moving vehicles and pedestrians should move out of the way for us fast moving unicyclists!

The temperatures in are fluctuating above and below freezing recently. Much of the snow has melted and then refrozen as ice.

Been quite a while since I was proficient at unicycling and I've never tried mt biking on one. It looks interesting, but I think I’d miss blasting carefree downhill, doing little jumps, and not having broken bones. ‘;^)

There's people that unicycle on our (rough) mtb trails. One year the kid and I were hiking in the middle of winter when a guy went by on his unicycle, through the snow, his dog on a leash beside him. 🥹

This is nothing like the intended final configuration. It is lacking a brake and has a wheelset that is too small but I just wanted to quickly put something together for the sake of "trying out" the new frame. I just used the spare parts I had to hand.

Nonetheless since it is rideable I might use it like this for tomorrow's commute, just for fun. 😉

Starting to make some progress on , which is basically what you get if you start with a and remove the seat and frame^1

I suppose the next logical step is to become the wheel and just cartwheel everywhere.

^1: Purpose-built ultimate-wheels also generally don't have cranks; the pedals are instead mounted directly to the wheel

Did some grocery shopping with the on the way back from the server room. Took my Brompton inside as usual. But I wasn't the only one who took a bike inside. A young girl was pushing a through the small supermarket. And a lot of people were wearing their inside. Counted at least four persons. Outside were at least a dozen bikes, though.

So remember: Always take your bicycle helmet inside when doing errands to show that you're shopping with a bicycle.

Lots of rain expected today in . In fact it is already raining a bit right now.

A couple of colleagues were suprised that I unicycled but to steal a phrase from the Dutch,

"Ik ben niet gemaakt van suiker."

(I am not made of sugar [so will not dissolve in the rain])

So far I don't think I have been put off by any of the weather Oslo has thrown at me. Silly amounts of snow, thunderstorms, it's all fine.

I have my yellow for the rain.
