Needed a break yesterday so we went "Begyle Brewing" near the Irving Park Brown Line. Chicago has a great craft beer scene and @seanbala is following the "Chicago Brew Pass" from "Choose Chicago" - this is our third one! We got some excellent Begyle Blonde Ale (according to @dohappybelove it has hints of rose and honey). The atmosphere was really relaxed and cozy.

A photo of the inside of the brewery. The space is large and open. At the center of the background is a man at the counter and the bartender pointing up at the board with all the beers. In the foreground are some wooden tables with green chairs.

If you're interested in the breweries of 19th century Bamberg, I have good news: I updated my map from July to not only list all 1818 breweries, but also the ones that were around in 1876. During the research for it, I stumbled upon a small mystery involving Keesmann and Mahrs.

Morning Mastodonians!

A couple of friends are coming over a little later and we'll take them for a tour of some local breweries. We went "out there" a few months ago for their tour and now it is our turn. It is supposed to rain all day (naturally - this is the New England summer weather pattern) but it shouldn't slow us down much There are 4 microbreweries on the itinerary - Treehouse, Hopocathery, Medford, and Faces. Should be fun.

Holy shit: Five Points Gold is excellent. Are they trying to make a modern take on Boddington’s? Pale, rich malt, sharp bitterness, a subtle modern twist and... 3.4%! Exciting.

BLOG POST: Bristol brewery Wiper & True opened a huge new taproom on an industrial estate last summer. One year on, it’s become something of a green marvel.
