The city of Cupertino is known today as #Apple Computer's headquarters, but many years ago the city was named in honor of St. José de #Cupertino, a Franciscan #Saint known for being "remarkably un-clever" and a "nuisance" with a "bad temper," but who gained fame based on stories of his miracles, including levitation. In retrospect, these "miracles" are now believed to have been hallucinations due to ergot poisoning from rye bread (aka, 'Saint Anthony's Fire'). Ergot is chemically similar to LSD.
I really like Chicha San Chen because they're one of the only boba brands that takes the 'tea' part of boba super seriously. You can see them brewing the tea, separately, from good loose tea leaves. In NorCal, they're only in Cupertino ;/ but they are also in San Gabriel Valley in SoCal. They're from Taiwan, of course.
I don't go to #WholeFoods often, so I don't know whether this is new: there's now a “dosatetia,” with made-to order dosas, samosas, lassis, wraps, and various kinds of sauces. It looks like they're using “dosa” as a brand name, as well as a simple description of what they're selling.
I wonder whether this is just #Cupertino, where there's a large Indian-American community, or if it's everywhere.
Two more hours to go. I’ve made back my fee, so I’ve reached my goal for today. I’ve also learned a lot. I’ll share my notes in a blog post next week. Here’s my table. #Cupertino#siliconvalley#fleamarket#papercraft
Gracias a @tito_maldegorf por avisarme que me nombran un par de veces en el último capítulo de #Cupertino presentado por @Barredo@matias.
No solía escucharlo, pero se han ganado un hueco en mi corazoncito 🤗
I'm reading When the Heavens Went on Sale, a new book by Ashlee Vance about private companies putting things into space.
He describes the Rainbow Mansion, an intentional community in Cupertino, California where people who are interested in space technology live together.
I've just made a #Wikidata item for the Rainbow Mansion. The house was already on #OpenStreetMap, I've added the name and linked it with the Wikidata item.
