Do feature phones still have a place in 2024? Absolutely, but what’s it like to use one? I’ve been testing out the Aspera F50 to find out. Here's my full text and video review!

📱➡️📞 Weniger ist manchmal mehr! Die Generation Z geht back to basics und tauscht ihre Smartphones gegen Feature-Phones aus. 🔄 Warum?

I got a Nokia 2780 Flip phone as our "home phone" for around the house and for my kid to bring with him in situations where we might be separated. It's very satisfying to use! Physical buttons, T9 texting, and it even has a rudimentary Google Maps app. 3 days of battery life, to boot. It runs KaiOS. Great call quality, signal strength, and that pleasant Nokia ringtone.

My perfect phone would be a with display-port out running . Imagine having the simplicity of a feature phone and then being able to connect it to a dock and use it as a PC. That would be amazing!

I have now also written my helper app: passport for KaiOs 3.

People keep referring to the Cat 22 flip phone as a dumb phone. It has a touch screen, runs Android, and has the Google Play Store. It is a flip phone, but I think that's too much to even qualify as a "feature phone". Just being a flip having a smaller screen, and having a physical keypad doesn't make something a "dumb phone".

@xoagray Eeyupp...

A is something that has a non-extensible with only the functions baked in to be supported.

A however would at least allow customizations in terms of look and feel or some content - like ringtones, maybe some [Java Mobile] Games, and being able to play music.

Whereas a what the is, is just a in a flip form factor - not much different from the and series...

Is there a place for a cheaper feature phone in your life? Here's my review of the HMD Global produced Nokia 2660 Flip. Living with this phone for a while has been... interesting.
(Video and text review, take your pick, feel free to share around, etc, etc...)
