So, fun fact and reminder of why tf I don't use #windows for my primary daily driver:
Updated the RAM in my beasty little #homeserver (even though it didn't really need it) just to have Windows Server totally bungle and abort during startup as a result of the upgrade. Same type and rating of RAM, just one stick has higher capacity. Stand-in upgrades + :windows: = :blobcatdunno:
The #archlinux partition, however, absolutely loves it...which is no surprise 🙃 :arch:
Time for a nice little memory boost for the micro #ryzen#homeserver 🤘
Already runs Active Directory nicely, but it's time to spin up some #linux hyper-v machines and migrate my @homeassistant setup and NAS to a centralized server 🙌😎 :homeassistant: :debian: :docker:
NixOS is a Linux distribution that is completely and entirely reproducible. Everything you use is defined in a configuration file that is used to build your system. All the services, packages, options, partition layout, hardware, everything, is in this config file....
But let's say both ServiceA and ServiceB needs a #MySQL server.
Would you rather, add separate MySQL servers to both docker-compose.yml files or create a new MySQL docker-compose service and then connect ServiceA and ServiceB to that MySQL service?
Running a #homeserver with a now #postmarketos, former #android phone. It's kinda cool to "upcycle" what would otherwise be an outdated, useless device.
@ceresbzns sort of agreed. I am on a FOSS fork of #element anyway, but im utilizing .org server as ive found it incredibly hard to find a #homeserver that isnt EMS-hosted
I need suggestions for a home server setup: currently I am using docker-compose to manage all my (10+) Services running on my #homeserver and I use traeffic as ingress.
What other setup would you recommend that that makes handling all these services easier. Specially deploying them?
Please boost. I am happy to hear your suggestions and hear about your setup!
