💻 Lilbits: This DIY “ITX Laptop” is ridiculous (in the best way possible) | Liliputing
「 Basically it’s portable desktop with an ITX (170 x 170mm) motherboard featuring an Intel Processor N100 Alder Lake-N chip, and a chunky case design. But it also has a full set of ports (there’s even a PS/2 connector for an old-school mouse or keyboard), and dual touchscreen displays. And the whole things runs off a USB power bank 」
Is there a Mastodon hashtag for people who like to tinker with their personal website and just chat about it / ask questions on here? Like, “hey I tweaked my CSS a bit, cool huh?” -kinda stuff.
I need to find a local electronics supply shop. Do they exist in Silicon Valley anymore? Shocked to find I'm out of heat shrink in some key sizes. The Internet yields some interesting results: Anchor (nearby, looks promising), Jameco (minimum order?), San Mateo (damn "After 62 years we are CLOSING our RETAIL facility."). Also this looks exciting: "The Electronics Flea Market tentatively resumes on March 10, 2024." https://www.electronicsfleamarket.com/
Wov, Jeff Geerling, Explaining Computers, Gary Explains, ETA Prime, NetworkChuck and others have all released their videos on the new #raspberrypi5 ... cool, I can watch #youtube videos about new Raspberry pi all day and I have an excuse for not watching news about the world going to shit ... 😎
OK, had to clean up my #ender3, hotend, nozzle and teflon tube totally clogged, replaced nozzle for the first time (I haven't done that since I've got the printer during Covid) - well I should probably take better care of my printer ... everything clogged and baked together ... uff ... this felt like getting a colonoscopy ... (I have never got one, actually ... 😎 )
Woke up today and videos about #raspberrypi5 from all the big tech channels popped out from youtube news feed. Must have been living under a rock, I wasn't expecting Rpi5 until next year. I was hoping for 6 cores and full size HDMI connector, but you can't win them all. Still exited ... at least we've finally got the power button ... 😎 2 cameras is definitely a plus. And 2-2,5 performance boost (if true), faster memory and GPU, PCIe and SD is awesome.
It started with a storm month ago and ended at fixing 30y old wood saw.
The storm knocked dog house roof over and inside got wet.
Today I replaced pine needles (dog's favourite sleeping matress) and spotted rotten floor.
Replaced one of the floor pillars and tried to cut new one. The saw cable failed. Dissasembled it, replaced the cable and greased the moving parts. After 30 years, no signs of wear.
Finally, fixed the house. Dog happy. #fixingstuff#tinkering
I'm looming for a thiny #Thumb#Keyboard (kinda lie a 60% or 40% board that is tiny) that connects via #USB (wired!) to any host device.
Kinda like the #Dreamgear#MiniKey or the #Xbox360#ChatPad but it needs to be either FLOSH or at least be still made to this day AND work natively as Keyboard.
Here goes once again: This time I asked #ChatGPT to generate the hashtags for all Global South countries. Sorry for any mistake and I hope I'm not being too spamy:
I'm selling 2 tickets for #CCCamp23 (#Germany, August 15th to August 19th, 2023)
Say hello to my temporarily taped together, almost fully functional little friend! It runs a Node application serving a web page reading input from a gamepad and sending commands back over a web socket. The software is very modular and configurable to control any kind of machine with different numbers of motors and other outputs. I wrote most of it without any hardware to test it on, but it seems to work mostly as intended. Fun! #raspberrypi#electronics#tinkering#hobbyproject#hobbyprojects
Got my new #raspberrypi yesterday after more than 2 years of shortage. When Eben Upton said the stocks of Rpi should begin to normalize by the 3rd quarter of 2023 I was skeptical. Usually one needs to multiply these promises by the factor of Pi ... (no pun intended) 😎 But looks like this time it wasn't BS ... 👍

Hello there! I've gone by many names over the years, but here I shall be Tavix.
I consider myself to be a self-effacing introvert with a passion for fantasy, reading, science and technology. A tinkerer at heart with a penchant for video games.
By day, I diligently apply percussive maintenance to malfunctioning or otherwise uncooperative computers, servers and networks.
When at the mercy of my own whims, I find myself drawn to a quiet room with my wife for company.
