Delighted to see England Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman sign a new contract that'll keep her in charge of the team until after the 2027 Women's World Cup:
She says she has "unfinished business" and as a Lionesses fan this is great news! She's a world-class manager and there's no-one better to lead the team in the 2025 Euros and 2027 WWC.
My vote's gone to Mary Earps, the #Lionesses number 1. She was exceptional during the Women's World Cup and in the Women's Super League for Manchester Utd.
Crunch time in the UEFA Women's Nations League. The #Lionesses face #Scotland and have to win. Also probably need Belgium to do a job against the Netherlands, and either win or hold them to a draw. It's not an easy path to winning the group, but I'm sure it'll be entertaining.
The #Lionesses crushed it against Scotland on Tuesday but there was last-minute heartbreak when they learnt they wouldn't be going to the Olympics or the Nations League finals.
Wow. What an intense and amazing game of football. England complete the comeback from 0-2 down at half time to win the game 3-2.
Epic comeback, but the #Lionesses will still need a favor from Belgium in the final game if they're going to win their group. Basically need the Netherlands to lose or draw against Belgium if England has a chance to win the group.
Still though, this showed real character to beat Holland from being 2 down.
Another interesting article looking at the gulf between England's domestic league (WSL) against Spain's Liga F, and #Barcelona's success in the #ChampionsLeague.
More funding for academies, especially outside of big cities, and attracting elite coaches to the game is the way forward. We need to fund and support our women and girls!
Sue Whyatt, who was a goalkeeper for England in 1972, spoke to Nuala McGovern about the legacy of the #lionesses’ World Cup performance and how impressed she was with Mary Earps' penalty save in the final.

Painful article to read by The Times and I think dismissing England's game as simply "strong & fast" is doing them a disservice and a massive oversimplification.
That said, the core of it is right. The Spanish team are setting new standards of technical prowess and their technical skills are something all teams should aspire to.
Rishi Sunak, five minutes before kick off yesterday (please note I'm not sure of the actual time this picture was taken). I wonder which of his hapless media team got sent to JD Sports in a helicopter to buy it.
Taking bets on whether he put this on expenses 😡 #UKPolitics#Lionesses
Disappointed that the #Lionesses lost, but they played well during the tournament and gave us pride. Also proud of Sarina Wiegman. And of Mary Earps to keep that penalty. #Spain was the stronger team on the day, congratulations #wwc#WWC2023@wwc
@wwc These retired England players-turned-commentators are very supportive and dedicated to, even very publicly protecting those following in their footsteps, this generation of players
