#apple#ipadpro#m4
"Apple's senior VP John Ternus reveals that Apple has added a new protective "cowling" over main logic board...not only helps with heat dissipation, but also "effectively creates a central rib that runs through the whole thing and tremendously improves the stiffness"
@davemark going ‘thin’ seemed a stupid move. Not sure anyone cares, but I guess there will be possible fatigue handholding the 13 inch. Or wanting to sell cases. Who knows.
@davemark@joannastern because that’s how it has worked. First we get the weak chips for the iPad (pro), then we get pro/max/ultra in the macos devices. You’ve been here before.
Calling it! Between the SDK, Xcode, Geekbench flag detection & more, Apple has officially brought the first Arm Scalable Matrix Extension enabled device to market in the new #M4. With that also comes the move from NEON/ASIMD to the Streaming Scalable Vector Extensions #SME#SSVE
I mean it’s cool that #Apple has been pushing forward with their processor line, and while the #M4 sounds cool, at this point I might as well wait for the M5, because we all know the M5 is the ultimate computer. #IYKYK
@Jyoti I saw some Managing Director type using one of those huge iPads on the train, absolutely the opposite of convenient. They have a great screen though, I could easily read all his emails.
Regarding the #xz backdoor Jonathan Corbet from https://lwn.net/ thinks that #autoconf is part of the problem: "Why are we still using ancient build systems that almost nobody understands?"
So do I. I have not been using #sendmail for decades which used to have the same #m4 bullshit.
@NicolasSustr Mit den aktuellen Baustellen zwischen Lichtenberg und Köpenick ist auch die 21 quasi ein Flop.
Schöneweide eh.
Das würde alles kein Autofahrer tolerieren in dem Ausmaß.
