@muzykametalowa#paradiselost
My kid was typing "Paradise Lost" and autocorrect suggested "Paradise LOL" and now I want to see what that would look like in practice. Like, would Satan start a comedy routine in Hell? Would God kick Adam and Eve out of Eden because they failed his auditions? #ParadiseLost#literature
For a long time I've been bothered by problems with the Paradise Lost #wikipedia article. Periodically I go try to improve one section or another, but I feel like it needs a group effort. Do I know any Miltonists or #Milton sympathizers interested in a mini editathon?? or Milton haters if you've got the receipts!
(#ParadiseLost? is that a hashtag anyone would use??)
#paradiselost#nowPlaying
"At once as far as angels ken, he views
The dismal situation waste and wild:
A dungeon horrible, on all sides round
As one great furnace flam’d, yet from those flames
No light, but rather darkness visible...."
Just so you all know, I'll go into the snowlands for the weekend with my kid. Just the two of us this time. I am really looking forward to some serious bobsleigh action and snowman building 🛷 ☃️
Luckily my kid is into dad's music, so we'll have this blasting in the car:
Unfassbar, dass Icon von #ParadiseLost 30 Jahre alt ist! Aber ernsthaft! Nick klingt heute noch geiler als damals, als ich die CD unterm Weihnachtsbaum ausgepackt habe. 🥰
Lieblingsband for ever!

Hear 'Embers Fire' From PARADISE LOST's Re-Recorded Version Of 'Icon' Album
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their fourth album, "Icon", British gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST recently re-recorded the LP...
Since they have such an extensive catalogue I'll do things differently this time, allowing myself more time between the records so that I can catch up with other stuff as well.
I already started with their debut #LostParadise which was to my surprise a Death Metal record. A quite slow one, so I guess that's Death Doom then?
This was by far my longest metaljourney. Not in terms of albums (Saxon had 23!!!), but the time it took me to finish it was almost 2 months.
It's not because I don't enjoy PL, but rather their heavy style. The music is great, I just needed time to digest it. Hence the longer breaks in between albums.
I'm not one for "New Year's resolutions", but I am one for overly ambitious projects.
For 2023, Project365 is "One New Game Per Day".
Given that I have 634 unplayed games in my Steam account and {mumble} unredeemed bundle Steam keys, there's a reason my unplayed collection is tagged "Pile of Shame".
I'll pin this to my profile, and give a brief summary here each day (or x, if I miss x days due to work or stuff).
I'll play 15-30 minutes of (at least) one new game I've never played before (or played less than 15 minutes of). I'll give every game at least 15 minutes, even if I hate every minute of it.
I'm also open to suggestions; if you reply to this thread with a game, I'll schedule it, or tell you what I thought of it.
One of the things that's come up is that I have a bunch of games that I've played once, and not touched again.

Paradise Lost is a first-person walking simulator set in an alt-history 1980 where World War II did not end in 1945, and the Nazis managed to survive until (at least) the 1960's, before setting off nuclear weapons and retreating underground.
A lot of folks aren't big on walking simulators, but one of my favourite (ever) games is a walking simulator - Firewatch.
A walking sim needs to have a good pace, and a good story.
Therein lies my biggest issue with Paradise Lost; the walking pace is so agonisingly slow, that 20 minutes into the game, I was only just starting to scratch the surface of a game that seems to have an incredible atmosphere, and design aesthetic... and Nazis.
It is the story of a boy named Szymon who, after his mother's death, seeks to find the answers as to who she really was, and who the unknown man in a photo is (or was).
This leads Szymon to this abandoned underground world built by the Nazis to escape the consequences of their bombs.
Unfortunately, Nazis just feels too on the nose in 2024, and combined with the excruciatingly slow pace, Paradise Lost is an unfortunate:
