Had a appointment this morning - I haven't gone for nearly 2 months because of an injury. He gave me some stretches for homework and straight away I started asking about and workouts and he said no, let's get this done first, but he was clearly thinking what is it with runners, the FUCKING MANIACS

Doctor appt today, and he happily wrote up all the pain relief I needed prescribed for my shoulder.

I thought it might be difficult to get him to prescribe endone, panadeine forte, mobic, panadol osteo, and palexia.. but we went over how I was taking them all and he agreed that I was fine with how I was approaching it - and that taking such a variety of things meant actually taking less opioid based meds because I was able to keep on top of the pain with things like panadol osteo.

We also did my mental health plan and I hit a 40 on the K10.. which is Very Fucking High. We talked about that, and about how therapy is helping and that a big part of the 40 score is probably actually pain related as well.

He agreed that I showed great insight into my illness and that I was comfortable with being vulnerable enough to ask for help, so I get to skip hospitalisation (fucking yay!) because I have a good support system and I know how to access acute assistance if needed.

But still, 40 was even higher than I was expecting tbh. I'm usually around a 25-27.

I had a doctor appt about my shoulder today, he looked over the MRI report and referred me to a specialist because I'm going to have to have surgery.

The referral was faxed through immediately (it's 2023 and we're still using faxes apparently..?) and I got a call this afternoon to make an appointment with them - 9th January was the earliest I can see him.

I asked about getting endone (oxycodone) for pain because nothing else is working. I explained that I understand why he might be reticent to prescribe it because of the addiction risk, but that he's known me a few years now and has seen that I use both panadeine forte (fibromyalgia) and xanax (anxiety and ocd), and in the years that I've seen him my dose has never increased because I'm very fucking careful about how I use drugs.

He said he was fine prescribing it for me, and "if I'm not going to give it to you for this, when would I prescribe it? Your shoulder is definitely badly injured, and you're in pain."

I can't explain how it feels to have a doctor believe you when every illness you've experienced has been fobbed off as you just being fat and crazy your entire life.

He also apologised that it's taken us almost 18 months to work out what was wrong, and went back over all my previous tests and scans to see if he missed things - he hasn't, they only hint at bursitis and don't show anything about the tears and lesions etc.

Shoulders are difficult because everything is really tucked right in there, and you can't see much without an MRI... but best practice is to use other scans and physio etc first because MRIs are expensive and difficult.

I really like my doctor.

When your doctor looks at the MRI report and says "give me a sec.. I'm having trouble comprehending the amount of damage you've done there are just so many injuries.."

MRI done.

Just as an aside, if you have piercings, check with the MRI tech before pulling them all out, because it mightn't be necessary.

Now, to get all these unnecessarily removed piercings back in...
