I am constantly feeling overwhelmed. I can't believe there are people who struggle the same as I do in situations like floods and wildfires, or trying to stay alive in places like Yemen or Syria or Gaza.
I tried being kind to myself and allowing myself to be half an hour late to work, as I was tired and still overwhelmed from yesterday. It didn't work out though as just as I arrived at work I had a big migraine and had to come home. Migraines are so strongly linked to overwhelm. It's like they're just another release valve for not coping with sensory input.
Do allistic people really need constant interaction with others? In person? It sounds horrific. I lived with other people for years. Often they want interaction. That's just brutal for the autistic mind isn't it? #Autism#autistic#neurodiverse#lgbtqi#ActuallyAutistic
The day when you take the achievement snatched from many year's of precious spare time moments, put on a cover & upload it to bookstores.
I'm there with epic #fantasy book 3/3 in my debut trilogy, and sad to let these beautiful, #queer, #neurodiverse characters and the found family they made go.
With this book, I pushed my ability to plot a complex, multi-civilisation conflict to its limits.
I loved every bit of it. I hope some of you do too.
When I sit and stare at something (I'm doing a lot of this the last few days) the material e.g. concrete, appears to undulate gently like the ocean. It's like I'm on a low dose of mushrooms all the time. Anyone know what this is about?
Hello #Mastodon! I'm a former practicing lawyer and professor. Looking to chat about #legal issues, #datascience (especially computational text analysis using Python and R 😉 ), and #travelphotography. I care a lot about equitable access to the court system for all peoples, including those who are #neurodiverse, in the US by way of #immigration, #black or people of color.
Fully aware that this sounds like a conspiracy theory, but the #neurodivergent (specifically #AuDHD) movement is so fascinating to witness through an evolutionary lens. We are quite literally experiencing how society comes to terms with an accelerating genetic mutation. Growing evidence points towards #adhd and #autism as differing presentations of the same underlying mutation. Highly co-morbid conditions like #depression, #anxiety, and #ocd could be #cptsd from ongoing social trauma? Wild.
When you hear a boomer say “we’re all a little autistic,” they are articulating a reality. They have always built social groups full of individuals whose brain processes information in a similar way because they likely share similar genetic mutations.
I personally have few close relationships with people who don’t consider themselves #neurodiverse in some form. Of course my ancestors and extended family have similar “mental health problems”—we all share the same genetic code.
A quick reminder this #AutismAcceptanceDay: Some people are trans and Autistic. It doesn't matter why. What matters is that Autistic trans people are valued for who they are - just like any other trans person or any other Autistic person.
The reason autistic people identify as LGBTQI more than allistic people is a mystery still but the theory that we "just don't give a shit" is strongly endorsed in the comments. #Autism#autistic#neurodiverse#lgbtqi#ActuallyAutistic
My problem is, I am a guy who likes the idea of doing so many things, but in reality only has the energy or motivation to want about doing those things rather than actually doing them.😩
