Sorry @k9mail@thunderbird but I moved to #FairEmail (Pro) due to its support to S/MIME and the certificate offered by my provider #Posteo.
Thanks to Marcel Bokhorst for FairEmail
@AAMfP@k9mail@thunderbird Interesting offer by #posteo. Just tried in #firefox on my #debian pc and it failed with "Action not permitted" when trying to download the files (I guess). I would also much prefer to upload my own CSR that I generated outside of the browser. BTW, in Germany #ausweisapp enables you to sign your PGP/GPG key by an official authority for free. OpenKeychain works nicely in #fairemail. #kudos to #dhl for using #smime to sign their mails.
@AAMfP Logged in via my smartphone and a webview-based browser and saw that I can now reissue the #smime certificate in the #posteo webinterface for free. Great! Re-downloading the files failed again because the browser seems to have trouble with #blobs. Then logged in via Firefox on my smartphone but there is no option to reissue — at this time at least. I'm probably clumsy and impatient but it still feels like a #shitshow.
@galvatron
I had the same problem and I thought it could've been that I'm using Mull and ReThinkDNS to block a gazillion trackers.
I really wanted to try it, so I ended up buying another certificate, but from desktop browser 😒 and it worked.
Now I have my S/MIME with #Posteo and #FairEmail
We'll be blacklisting mailbox.org and websites using it for email hosting for registration on discuss.grapheneos.org and as an alert email for attestation.app. They're blocking emails from our mail server for a convoluted, nonsensical reason and won't stop.
As a paying customer of mailbox.org and user of GrapheneOS, I'd sure like to know why one of the most secure mailproviders in Germany doesn't seem to be interested in resolving this issue.
Do you have similar reports from customers of #Posteo?
Ahora mismo:

So, I used to have an account at #Posteo, but forgot to pay for it for a while, so it got deactivated. Sure, that's fine. But you'd think they'd want me to start paying them again, and offer to restart my subscription by filling in my credit card info after trying to log in?
But no, instead they just give me a standard couldn't log in error message – and also says my user name is unavailable when I try to create a new account. Also: no recover account link or info about that in the help section
@forteller The addresses of terminated #Posteo accounts are blocked for 24 months as an important security measure: This prevents imposters from grabbing your former address and impersonating you.
Because of Posteo's focus on privacy, they probably don't retain enough identifying information about you to be able to open a new account with the same address any earlier.
By contrast, #mailbox.org has an account recovery grace period of 30 days.
And this is all I need to know about @protonmail to know they're either idiots or anti-consumer. Hell, I can't really argue for @Tutanota in this regard either as they still do not support PGP.
Taking away features and/or control from the user is always the wrong choice. A good product should make things accessible through good UI/UX, not dumb it down. What are you, Apple?
On that note, I recommend #Posteo. Not the best UI, but great service.
@killyourfm@mforester@thunderbird Thunderbird on my desktop (so excited for what's coming!), #Posteo as my email server, and typing this on a #BlackBerry (sorry, you mentioned keyboards, I had to say it!).
