Grey Wethers . Legend has it a flock of turned to stone by Belus the Sun God to punish a greedy peasant.

‘…every Midsummer Eve, at midnight, the stones take their former shapes, and, as sheep, graze till morning upon the green slopes of Sittaford Tor…should anyone succeed in shearing one of these sheep ere sunrise, its fleece, if sprinkled with water that may be found in a deep rock basin on top of Kestor, will turn to gold.’

A pair circles made up of small stones, as well as a three stone alignment, located in a shallow valley to the north of Y Mynydd Du mountains.

"In the parish of Millum… there did exist the remains of a Druidical temple, which the country people called "sunken kirk,"… a church sunk into the earth. It is nearly a circle of very large stones, pretty entire, only a few fallen upon sloping ground in a swampy meadow…"

Swinside stone circle in the south of Cumbria is a startlingly beautiful place. I never leave without a feeling of time well spent.

Another shot for from the largest stone circle in the world. It was a delight to be there again early this month with my old school friend, Lorne. The large bank and ditch were build around 4600 years ago with the stone circle being placed soon after that. A beautiful place that’s full of magic. #

This has given me a smile today, starting using Wiltshire Gazette n' Herald's ad-building tool to promote Tom Robinson's megalith demolition services in the Avebury area 🙂

Next thing you know I'm speaking to the marketing solutions team. Competitive prices, with luck I'll see this through!

Read the next in this thread to find out more about Tom Robinson and his legacy.

Final state proof out for ‘The Cove, Avebury’. I made another ten or so cuts this lunchtime to soften the sky, correct some things on the stones and reworked the ground in places. I want to work on some new ideas then I’ll begin an edition
