1999 plan from #Swatch (the colorful timepiece folks) to have the Russians deploy a #satellite that would transmit messages provided by Swatch fans back to Earth via amateur 2m frequencies.
The messages, gathered via the Swatch Web site, related to the Swatch company’s campaign to establish the “Swatch Beat” as a new “global concept of time.”
Needless to say, this aroused some controversy in the #HamRadio community.Transmissions never took place.
Putting just more space garbage (which increases the risk of collisions even more) for marketing of cheap made plastic watches doesn't sound sensible to me. Making this satellite send messages of fan boys with no real use doesn't seem sensible.
I just got the last two ink pads I was missing from the Distress Oxide palette: Rustic Wilderness and Crackling Campfire. So I swatched and organized my collection.

After my last boost I thought I'd see if I could find a photo of the Sony Walkman I had in the #1980s. No. And that's with Google and Bing with numerous search terms. Considered looking for 80s Argos or Littlewoods catalogues scans but maybe later. What I did discover, though, is that there were a hell of a lot of Walkman designs in that decade.
That then made me think about the #Swatch#watch I used to have. I did find a photo of that, and it was called the Soto, apparently. Loved that thing.
