This is part-one of a two-part US politics poll. Please answer both questions.

According to a dispassionate reading of the law, and no other considerations should Trump be removed from the ballot in every state in the general election. Having participated in Jan 6, he no longer meets the constitutional requirements to hold office.

@futurebird Biden's a fairly weak candidate, and it's possible he loses either way, but it's better to have a weak candidate against another hated candidate. I also think trying & failing to remove him is a complicated situation which may further normalize Trump. Removing him in what's seen as an unfair way (he's still their front runner but he's removed in enough states that he can't win) will also create a shit storm in 2028.

Basically, despite the law I'm not sure we should be doing this if we're not totally sure we can fully remove him from the ballot quickly, and that doesn't seem to be the case.

Hello I think this is a really wonderful idea and I am very excited to use it!

Not sure if this is helpful but I found an issue.

Testing with the same feed, posts load into Mastodon, but they do not appear to load into other fediverse software. Tested with Mastodon, Firefish, and Sharkey.

Got some metallic and interference paint for xmas, just swatching them out.

@jam Mostly I do it while I am doing other things... so I crochet when I am on conference calls (I work from home), or when I am watching TV.

Finally did some art for the first time in a while. This felt so good to do. From my bullet journal, my wow character casting spells and healing loads. As always with my journal, this is watercolor and ink.

When people say an app is heavy or light, for example that Mastodon is heavier than Pleroma, I gather that this means Mastodon is more expensive than Pleroma. Do the costs associated with heaviness also implicate the environment? So, if I'm planning to put together a website, would l want to look for the lightest CMS if I wanted to minimize environmental impacts?

Because of the antenna issue on firefish I spent the last few days testing other software...

What I discovered is basically I didn't understand how federation works and it actually works a lot worse than I thought ​:blob_notlikethis:​

I thought it was something like: if your server is connected to mastodon.social, your server will pull mastodon.social.

It's actually that if your server is connected to mastodon.social, it will only pull posts from people that are followed by people on your server from mastodon.social, and posts boosted by those people.

This makes the antenna issue a lot less important because realistically if I want to discover other artists and other esperantists who aren't already known to me, I basically need to have an alt on mastodon.social to follow those hashtags to identify new people for my main account to follow.

Why not just move to mastodon? Well, *key instances have the feature set that I am interested in using for my actual posts. Aspects of fedi-culture which stress other people out like alt-text do not really bother me... needing to keep my posts within 500 characters, and being unable to react with an appropriate emoji is what stresses me out ​:blob_sweats:​

I guess this leaves a question: why not a better federated misskey instance? Well, I feel comfortable here.

Also tbh learning that this is how federation works makes the constant defederation drama on here even more inexplicable. Users receive posts from awful people in timelines because someone in your group is following awful people or someone one of you follow is boosting awful people. Awful people find users to harass thru well federated servers like mastodon.social... same as I will find more artists to follow thru there. The only way out of that is allow-listing rather than block-listing is my guess.
