SO MANY FEELS!!!
❤️ ❤️ ❤️

No audio but may be the HDMI adapter I am using... in any case it does power on and I can get into BASIC and the Parsec cart works. I am legit giggling with happiness.

I feel like little kid again...

Very excited girl!! Wanted one of these for a long time when I was little. Now waiting for the /4A to show up 😊

Test Instruments Program Recorder being shown inside of it's original box. It has the manual resting against it.

Any /4A owners know where I can find the original image for this sticker? https://github.com/endlos99/finalgrom99/blob/master/doc/cartshell.jpg

Working on a new project and want to print my own :)

I can't find it in the repo, but operating on low sleepy and high caffeine, so may have missed it

Thanks!

Say hello to GROTTY-1, the world's dirtiest /4A. I got it as an untested throw-in with a Cor-comp micro expansion system. I stupidly didn't take photos of the initial cleanup, but the case itself contained, besides hairballs and general grunge, a dead wasp and a brass thumbtack. Miraculously, the thing worked when I plugged it in.

📦⌨️ Among the newly received donations, we spotted a nice set for the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A from 1981 😍. It's the first 16-bit home computer, using TI's proprietary TMS9900 CPU paired with 16 KB of RAM.

my visit to the Scott Morgan series continues, with a game which somehow mixes Westerns and Greek mythology

but the bit with the ghost is pretty neat, so

in which I explore Yet Another Game Named Haunted House, this time for the much-maligned TI-99, and manage the sleuth a little more out about the mysterious American Software Design and Distribution Co.

Yay my first computer (a TI 99/4A) still works! First time firing it up in maybe 10-15 years. Had to make a crappy cable and attach it to an analog to HDMI converter. Glad it was that simple - my RF modulator boxes are both dead I'm pretty sure.

I actually suspected this recently arrived chip was a fake, so am pleasantly surprised to see this screen 😎

Startup screen showing the video chip works.

The machine is back together, currently without the RF shielding. Seems to hold in place solidly without it.

I think it will need a cleanup at some point though, also some keys seem a bit repeat-y so will need cleaning too.

Fully working otherwise though 😎

My appallingly bad score of 3740 on Munchman using only the arrow keys, which are arranged very strangely. That's my excuse anyway.
An assembled and fully working (if a bit dirty) Texas Instruments TI-99/4A home computer, fixed.

Hmm, intriguing. The voltages coming out of the TI-99's power board using the original PSU seem good!

Which must mean something horrid is happening on the main board.

5 volt line reading, a bit high but expected with no load I think.
Minus 5 volt line reading.

Using the very broken joysticks and some shorting of keyboard pins, I got this to run just fine. Sound works, all good as far as I can see!

Impromptu cartridge connection.
I did very very well on Munchman 😁
