Only 23 more rows to knot and weave (plus, there's the 15-20 cm of plain weaving). On a "good" day, I can do 5 rows, working around all the little intrusive household and family obligations. It can be annoying having to eat.
Second arm finished...I'm calling it 'heart on my sleeve' as I've managed to incorporate an anatomical heart and a swirly one. There's a brain at the top...
First sleeve completed apart from a bit of surface work. A lot of Georgia O'Keeffe-type spirals. Big shout out to all the independent dyers and spinners this yarn came from. When it's finished, I'll post links to them.
#Yarnuary - my favourite yarns generally are Superwash Merino/nylon blends by independent dyers. This lot are all 4-ply (fingering) weight. The intense red is called 'Furnace' by @mothyandthesquid. Also love anything tactile and soft!
My in-person textile upcycling showcase in Oakland, California on Saturday 10/21 is on!
And the only reason I can talk about it right now is because I’m out of the sewing room and currently wait in line for a $5 deal at a local Safeway lol. C’est la vie. Happy weekend, everyone!
The finished garment and many #sewing updates are now published as part of my August newsletter!
Check it out when you can. Honestly, it’s been super hectic and it will become even more so in the next two months, as I’m preparing to work with 7+ garments for a showcase AND creating a garment prototype for a design challenge. #textileartexhibition#textileartist
I own it since 2013 (when 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target collection was released.)
I LOVE the cut. Haven’t seen anything else that fit me this great, especially around the shoulders.
I’m skilled enough to make the alterations I want.
For now, I’m marking the changes and pinning the added pieces with temporary fabrics.
No way I’m letting this one go to landfill; it’s going to be fantastic!
Still lots of finishing to be done, plus alterations to the armholes / sleeves and neckline. But it’s looking great, and the project is moving forward!
@sewing the conclusion! Aside from what you have already seen from my thread here, you’ll see more footage and the ways I style the refashioned (reborn?) dress.
