NEW POST! Take It Easy Training because cats don't obey. They cooperate. - Way of Cats https://buff.ly/4aB3npp

I don’t worry about how I’m going to get the cat to do something they don’t want to do.

Since this will never happen.

Aim the laser pointer at a surface they can attack.

That way they will keep their back to us.

NEW POST! Love at First Sight can certainly happen. But, follow up. - Choosing at Way of Cats https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/love-at-first-sight/77020

The second thing I knew about Rhiannon was that she was a Tortie. The first thing was that she was very determined for one so young.

Barn Cat Heritage - Way of Cats https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/barn-cat-heritage/71876

Barn cat heritage is all over the map. But they are still a domestic cat, living in shared space with people. This means their socialization can be all over the map, too.

Bonded Pair Potential - Way of Cats https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/bonded-pair-potential/68615

Bonded pair potential exists for any two cats. Though it might be tiny. Sometimes we can be surprised by the way love works its magic.

Or, not.

Rhiannon Invents a Game - Way of Cats https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/rhiannon-invents-a-game/62534

So when she jumped up on the hallway cat tree to catch my eye, I was happy to play. She darted her face from one side of the pole to the other.

Breaking our gaze became Hide and Seek.

I tried to get all the cats in the frame. But somehow no one wants to sleep on that cat pad today.

Cats teach us about randomness.🤣

Rhiannon's name means the Divine Queen, and she certainly is one.

Random Toy Success continues, and will. - Amuse at Way of Cats https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/random-toy-success/72208

Random toy success continues, no matter how well I know my cats. Almost the same thing doesn't count, and toy replacement is tricky.

But we both love the chase.

Rhiannon took years to fully mature, and this included all the colors in her coat.

Those big, gold, expressive eyes have always been her trademark. And that little orange patch on top of her head which was my first clue she was a Tortie. And for a long time, the only one. Her body was gray and shorthaired when we found her.

Then went multi-color and medium length for an overall puffed-out, adorable, look.

Rhiannon seemed to be pleading with Lou in this tableau, but she's actually daring him to try and tackle her yet again.

Rhiannon keeps developing new complexities in her fur patterns. Born with the gray and white.

That wrinkly little orange patch used to be the only one. That color came in late. But with, as we see, much enthusiasm. And Yoda ears.

Science says: cats like people. Told you. - Mythbusting at Way of Cats https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/science-says-cats-like-people/37144

Cats may not be conventionally domesticated; but somehow, love for humans is baked in.

Study says: "Increasingly cat cognition research is providing evidence of their complex socio-cognitive and problem solving abilities. Nonetheless, it is still common belief that cats are not especially sociable or trainable."

Rhiannon on the left and Bud on the right, being very careful to be polite with each other.

Especially Bud.
