Das Ende von #yuzu macht mich aus zwei Gründen traurig:
Die Switch ist eine veraltete Hardware-Plattform schon seit sie rauskam, Spiele auf einem 4k TV sehen grottig aus, 30fps ist für mich inakzeptabel. Beides hat yuzu mit upscaling und fr-unlocks behoben.
Ich hab keine Zeit&Geduld für frustige Spiele; yuzu mods haben beliebiges modding/cheating ermöglicht, und Spiele für mich frustloser gemacht. Ich bin voll fine mit einem "supereasy" mode in Spielen.
I forgot that the #Yuzu dedicated multiplayer lobbies, which I've deployed in my #k8s cluster and using for online games would no longer work - cos eventho it's self-hosted, it does send POST requests to yuzu-emu's API which ofc no longer exists. Dk, maybe it still works but requires a direct connection rather than be able to browse/locate through the lobby list?
Nie minął tydzień od pojawienia się pozwu, jaki wystosowało Nintendo do twórców emulatora Yuzu, a sprawa zostanie lada chwila zamknięta.
Początkowo Tropic Haze (ekipa odpowiedzialna za stworzenie emulatora Nintendo Switch) planowało walczyć z Nintendo, jednak ostatecznie poszli oni na ugodę. Twórcy Yuzu mają zapłacić 2,4 mln USD odszkodowania, zaprzestać dalszych prac nad emulatorem i dystrybucji jego kodu, zamknąć stronę i wszelkie profile w mediach społecznościowych, które promowały Yuzu oraz mają zakaz robienia czegokolwiek innego, co w jakiś sposób naruszałoby prawa autorskie Nintendo.
Dodatkowo Tropic Haze przekaże Nintendo domenę yuzu-emu.org oraz wszelkie narzędzia do fizycznego obchodzenia zabezpieczeń i modyfikacji sprzętu Nintendo, a także oprogramowanie, które zostało użyte do stworzenia lub było używane przez Yuzu, w tym „TegraRcmGUI, Hekate, Atmosphère, Lockpick_RCM, NDDumpTool, nxDumpFuse i TegraExplorer”.
Co więcej, taki sam los spotyka również Citra - emulator Nintendo 3DS tej samej ekipy.
Nie powiem, dość szybko sprawa znalazła swój finał.

With the speedy settlement of #Nintendo vs #Tropic_Haze, it does seem like the project was basically asking for it by flaunting the piracy of games not even released.
Sad for members of #emulation community that abide by better ethics than the ones for #Yuzu.
Also reminds me of #LSPosed shutting down because it didn't play nice with modded games and devs got harassed by the players, shame it wasn't the cheats that got shut down instead 😡
#nintendo destroying the #switch emulator #yuzu (and the #3DS emulator #citra through collateral damage) further validates my decision to only buy their shit secondhand. i grew up with nintendo, i've been a fan for virtually all of the 36 years of my life so far. i've given them countless amounts of money over the years. like, i do have mixed feelings about emulating current gen shit, but come on. i'm done. fuck 'em.
Se non l’avevate sentito giorni fa, beata la vostra ignoranza, #Nintendo ha preso così e lanciato una #causa legale a #Yuzu, #emulatore di #NintendoSwitch. Per qualche giorno non si è saputo nulla… e poi, #notizia di stasera, di qualche ora fa, è che, non potendo gli sviluppatori andare in tribunale (giustamente, è un progetto #opensource, non un prodotto commerciale), o quantomeno dubitando fortemente di vincere senza soldi, hanno firmato il patto col diavolo: pagare 2.4 milioni di dollari e “distruggere” (mamma mia i termini legali che roba da pazzi) tutto il lavoro. Questo include anche #Citra, emulatore #3DS, tra l’altro. 🍃
Eviterò ora il papiro per raccontare come mai stavolta #Ninty ha superato davvero il limite e io sono veramente incazzatissima, lo vedete anche voi che questo è bullismo e c’è poco da dire. Il problema ora è che, a parte che ora il clima diventa terribile per tutti i #software di questo tipo, e che lo #sviluppo di questi 2 in particolare non continuerà, tutte le repository di codice e i binari ufficiali sono stati cancellati. ☠️
Non sarò sola in questo, anche altra gente si starà mobilitando, ma anche io per #sicurezza voglio fare il mio e cercare di raccogliere da varie repo forkate e siti di distribuzione tutte le eventuali cose, per tenere anche dei #mirror personali. Grande #lungimiranza quella di creare #softwarelibero: gli sviluppatori dei due #emulatori sanno bene che, nonostante ora loro sono fuori dal gioco, tutto ciò che hanno fatto non verrà perso, e probabilmente qualcuno addirittura continuerà lo sviluppo.
